Hard X-ray transient grating spectroscopy on bismuth germanate

چکیده

Optical-domain Transient Grating (TG) spectroscopy is a versatile background-free four-wave-mixing technique used to probe vibrational, magnetic and electronic degrees of freedom in the time domain. The newly developed coherent X-ray Free Electron Laser sources allow its extension regime. Xrays offer multiple advantages for TG: their large penetration depth allows probing bulk properties materials, element-specificity can address core-excited states, short wavelengths create excitation gratings with unprecedented momentum transfer spatial resolution. We demonstrate first TG hard range at 7.1 keV. In Bismuth Germanate (BGO), nonresonant generates optical phonons detected as function by diffraction an pulse. This experiment demonstrates ability materials paves way ultrafast techniques using probes involving nanoscale periods.

Attosecond Hard X-Ray Scattering Spectroscopy

Synopsis We formulate an analytic, semi-relativistic theory of laser-assisted attosecond Compton scattering by a weakly bound electron. We (i) present the evidence of the feasibility of measuring the ground-state electron momentum density in the attosecond regime and (ii) investigate the attosecond Compton streak camera and spectral phase interferometry proposing two new methods of measuring th...

Hard-X-ray dark-field imaging using a grating interferometer.

Imaging with visible light today uses numerous contrast mechanisms, including bright- and dark-field contrast, phase-contrast schemes and confocal and fluorescence-based methods. X-ray imaging, on the other hand, has only recently seen the development of an analogous variety of contrast modalities. Although X-ray phase-contrast imaging could successfully be implemented at a relatively early sta...

A slit grating spectrograph for quantitative soft x-ray spectroscopy

In this article we describe a new slit grating spectrograph which is based on an e-beam written 10 000 linepairs/mm freestanding transmission diffraction grating. In combination with a thinned, back-illuminated charge coupled device ~CCD!, the spectrograph allows for real-time spectroscopy of laser-produced plasma x-ray sources within the wavelength region l51–20 nm. Calibration of grating and ...

Sax J1810.8-2609: a New Hard X-ray Bursting Transient

The transient X-ray source SAX J1810.8-2609 was discovered on 1998, March 10 with the Wide Field Cameras on board the BeppoSAX satellite, while observing the Galactic Bulge in the 2-28 keV energy range. On March 11, a strong type-I X-ray burst was detected with evidence of photospheric radius expansion. A follow-up target of opportunity observation with the Narrow-Field Instruments (NFI) was pe...

The Swift/BAT Hard X-ray Transient Monitor

The Swift/Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) hard X-ray transient monitor provides near real-time coverage of the X-ray sky in the energy range 15−50 keV. The BAT observes 88% of the sky each day with a detection sensitivity of 5.3 mCrab for a Center for Research and Exploration in Space Science and Technology (CRESST) and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD 20771, USA Universities Space R...
